Professional Research

As a Family Detective, I can research almost anything that you want to uncover about your heritage. I specialize in Jewish heritage but have researched non-Jewish U.S. families as well.

Generally, clients start with a $150 initial package which includes 1 day of research. Based on my findings, you may chose to continue with my services at $20/hr plus expenses. or we can proceed with project work at fixed project rates.

The initial package typically concludes with the following results:

Exact shtetls (towns) are not usually determined during the first pass of research.

All information will be recorded in RootsMagic software and will be delivered in GEDCOM files (standard file format for all Genealogy software packages).

Ongoing projects can include discovery and recording of indirect family members (siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.), microfilm research for vital record, census and other image recovery and documentation.

For end (and intermediary) products, I recommend digital scrapbooking or book publishing dependant on the quantity of information we discover.

Other Projects

World War I Draft Cards

The original WWI Draft Cards for the entire U.S. are housed in Morrow, GA at the National Archives. Copies of the images are found at Ancestry.com; however, not all of these are readable online. For a fee, I can copy the originals for you.

Tombstone Images

Tombstones can provide a wealth of information. Depending on location, I can photograph images for you.

Group Speaking

I can provide Genealogical talks on various topics. Past speaking engagements have included Introduction to Jewish Genealogy (for adults or children), Getting Started in Researching your Heritage, Online Jewish Genealogy Research, and Jewish Names.

My Background

I have been researching family for over 20 years and have served as President and Webmaster for the Jewish Genealogy Society of Georgia. For Jewishgen.org's Hungarian-SIG, I led the Miskolc, Hungary Vital Records indexing project coordinating the indexing of over 35,000 birth, marriage, and death records (7 microfilms).

I have conducted Jewish Genealogy classes in the Atlanta area for several years and spoken to diverse groups on various Genealogical topics. In the distant past, I performed as a stand-up comic. Your lecture will not be dry!.

Jewish Genealogical publishing giant, Avotaynu, contracted me to write the Georgia chapter on Jewish Genealogy Resources in the United States. The chapter was completed and is awaiting publication.
